The Young Kilmarnock Christmas parties took place at two venues yet again this year, the Odeon Cinema in Queen's Drive and the Fenwick Hotel in...er...Fenwick!
Members aged six years old and over queued for the movie matinee at 9:30am and elected to go and see Disney Pixar's The Good Dinosaur which proved a real hit with everyone. Some of the coaches and committee present struggled to keep a brave face at certain parts of the film with some lower lips seen to tremble.
Killie's own Rory McKenzie was the guest of honour and gave out special YK towels as gifts along with a ball to each member who attended. Rory, who is a real credit to Kilmarnock Football Club, took time to talk to all the kids, get pictures taken and sign autographs for everyone. We hope he gets over his injury and is back playing again soon.
After a quick tidy up at the cinema, the YK committee and helpers headed to the excellent Fenwick Hotel in the afternoon where over 30 of our members aged five and under were treated to a good, old fashioned Christmas party. Lots of fun and party games, dancing and even a magic show to keep them all entertained.
Take a bow Kenny Kerr, the children's entertainer! You've got to be a real magician to have our tiny terrors eating out your hand for that length of time
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a visit from that cheery chap with the white beard from the North pole. Ably assisted by the YK 'Elf and Safety' team, prezzies were duly handed out and everyone left with a great big smile on their faces.......while the committee headed for the bar!
We'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone involved in making the parties such a success again. A special mention to the Fenwick Hotel for donating crisps and juice and to Varani's Forum Cafe for the tastiest ice cream in Ayrshire.
