Young Kilmarnock actively encourages parental involvement. Currently the Saturday Club utilises 50 unpaid, volunteer coaches every week. The majority of these coaches have been recruited from parental ranks and have successfully qualified via SFA courses, funded by Young Kilmarnock.

Bobby, the Chair of YK, stated “One fact that the Committee are particularly proud of is that there are now a number of former members who have been with us since they were kids and are now qualified to coach kids themselves. They just want to repay the organization for all the fun they’ve had throughout the years. Hopefully this will continue and ensure Young Kilmarnock is a success for many years to come.”

YK goalkeeper sessions are proving more popular at the Saturday Club every week with members looking to improve their skills.

Our coaches instruct simple drills and game related practices. These drills all start in a simple fashion and progressively add layers of detail that are vital to get the very best out of goalkeepers.

After the sessions are finished, you can test these new skills in small sided games with other YK members……and you get a unique YK goalkeepers training kit too.

The smiles on the faces ofall our Saturday Club members are very much down to the commitment and enthusiasm shown by ALL our coaches (the YK ‘Young Team’ coaching squad pictured below) who voluntarily dedicate their time to provide fun filled football activity for all age groups between 4 and 16 years.

The YK Committee would like to thank all the coach volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to make Young Kilmarnock the overwhelming success story it has become.

They are the heartbeat of our organisation.
